![]() ![]() When talking about said importance with other developers, I’ve found that it’s effective to look at different perspectives and experiences like colors on a color wheel. This has allowed me to educate and mentor on the importance of diversity in our staff, perspectives, and games, alongside process improvements, education, tool acquisition, and other changes. If I’m able to make even one thing that allows someone else that experience, it all will be worth it.īoth alongside and within design I’ve also been given the opportunity to work on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) efforts in my career. Games helped me through some hard times in my life both as a form of education and escape. Every department is an integral piece of the overall puzzle that is game development and without any of those pieces the picture wouldn’t be complete.īeing able to build and shape that world for future players in the hopes of giving them memorable experiences like the ones I had when I was younger is humbling. I use the things that I learned from my narrative design degree pretty frequently within my design role as well as tools and perspectives I’ve picked up in other roles like my time in QA. In reality, both departments work hand in hand to create the worlds that players experience. However, it does not necessarily mean that I’m separated from the narrative creative process and that role isn’t fun. The thing I enjoyed the most was shaping and building the physical world that the player interacted with more than the overarching narratives and spoken word. When I finally became a developer, I learned through getting to work on the products I once played like Guild Wars 2. There, I learned how to write and build narratives for mediums like movies, comic books, novels, TV shows, and of course, games. The sequel will fix that, and players can expect to hear several returning voice actors in this game, including Tara Strong as Ember.I went to college to study narrative design for games because I knew I wanted to work on them since I was a kid. One example is the game's voice acting the previous game released without any voice acting to speak of, and the feature wasn't added until later on. The original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl left a lot of room for improvement, and it already seems like the new game will fix some of the issues players had. The sequel has been getting a lot of positive attention over the last few months, particularly as the developers have showcased more of the playable cast. As of this writing, GameMill has not gone into greater detail, though rumors suggest the game will be arriving in mid-November. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 will be releasing sometime in 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That design's inclusion shows just how much fan service is in the game, and old-school Garfield fans should be quite excited to see it! Notably, the character looked a lot closer to a real cat. Before Garfield took on the appearance we all know and love, his original design was significantly different. In one of the coolest additions to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, the game's developers have added a tribute to the character's original comic strip design by Jim Davis. ![]() The mode can be activated no matter how full the meter is, but the mode lasts longer the fuller it gets. Sugar Rush significantly increases the character's speed. The Slime version of Pie Throw results in a much bigger pie! Garfield starts out as one of the slower characters, but once the meter has been filled a bit, Garfield can use his down special to enter Sugar Rush mode. For example, Garfield's side special throws pies at enemies, which he can then eat to fill up the meter.Īs Garfield throws multiple pies, they have a different effect on opponents the first knocks them back, the second knocks them upward, and the third knocks them towards Garfield. One of these changes is a new Food Meter, which Garfield can fill by using food-based attacks. The character appeared in the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but like so many other returning fighters, Garfield has seen some adjustments from the previous game. ![]() Garfield is appearing as a playable fighter in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and publisher GameMill Entertainment has released an all-new spotlight trailer highlighting how he'll play. ![]()
